A wealthy member of the Jewish community in Lublin complained to the רב that he was tired of the title “Head of the Lublin Community.”  The רב, who knew that the man was disliked by the community, suggested that his title be changed to “Head of the Warsaw Community.”  “What connection do I have to Warsaw?” the man asked.  The רב responded:  “Calling you the Head of the Lublin Community is שקר גמור.  You have no liking for the people of Lublin and they have no liking for you.  They certainly don’t listen to you.  However, if you would call yourself Head of the Warsaw Community, that would be just half a lie, since you would clearly love to be the head of such a large and important community.”
