A student who had difficulty mastering דקדוק, noted that it’s significance is overstated. “After all,” he said, “it’s taken as a given that we say ‘זה’ for a זכר and ‘זאת’ for a נקבה. Yet, the תורה says ‘זה האשה’ and אשה is certainly נקבה. And it says ‘בזאת יבא אהרן ספר בן בקר’ and the פר is certainly a זכר.”
