A man interviewing for a government job when the Communists took control of Russia was asked: “If you had only one ruble in your pocket and the Commissar told you the government needs it, would you hand it over?” “Absolutely” the job seeker replied. The interviewer then asked: “And if the government asked you to give it the shirt off your back, what would you do?” “I would scream bloody murder!” the man said. Surprised, the interviewer asked what’s the difference between a ruble and a shirt. “I don’t have a ruble. But I do have a shirt.”
