When רב עקיבא איגר heard that there were Jews going to the theatre on Friday nights, he said: “מצינו בגמרא: רוב גנבי ישראל נינהו. This is rather surprising. What would cause us to think that Jews are גנבים? Apparently, it is because, as we know, on ערב שבת two מלאכי השרת accompany every Jew. When these Jews go to the theatre on ערב שבת and take along the two מלאכים without buying them entrance tickets, הרי הם פשוט גנבים.”
