Yitzchak and David were high school classmates. One day, they dozed off during shiur. The rebbe told them they needed to be punished. He bought two bags of peas and told each of them to put them in their shoes and walk on them for a week so that they never forget to always remain alert. Three days later, Yitzchak saw David hobbling along on the street, with a painful look on his face. David then said to Yitzchak “How is it that you are walking so easily? Didn’t you follow rebbe’s instruction to put the peas in your shoes?” “I did,” said Yitzchak. “But first I boiled them.”
