ברכות-ד

Before מנחה on שבת, a מגיד spoke in the בית מדרש. The following day, he went door to door to collect נדבות, as was customary. At the home of one of the prominent members of the קהילה, he was graciously received, complimented on his דרשה, and given a much larger donation than he expected. Pleased, the מגיד asked the נדבן what it was about his דרשה that he enjoyed so much. “I’ll tell you the truth,” he responded. “I’ve been having trouble sleeping. But as soon as you opened your mouth and began speaking, I immediately dozed off and fell into a deep sleep, ברוך השם, two hours straight.”
