An author sent his ספר to רבי אייזל חריף for a הסכמה. In order to persuade him to do so, he wrote that he already had הסכמות from a number of גדולי הדור but he wanted the הסכמה of רבי אייזל, because he was the גדול of the גדולי הדור. But רבי אייזל wouldn’t give him the הסכמה, instead writing: אני מסכים והם מסכימים. אני מסכים לדברי תורה, והם מסכימים לדברים בטלים.
