When רבי ישראל סלנטר was asked why it is that if seven people eat a סעודה, they can be joined by three who didn’t eat so that they can recite ברכת המזון with a מנין, but for תפילה בציבור six מתפללים are sufficient and four can join them to complete the מנין. The רבי replied: “And why does it bother you that another Jew had a meal?”
