Why was it that as the Yidden left Egypt כלב לא חרץ לשונו? As the גמרא tells us in Bava Kamma 60b, – מלאך המות בא לעיר; כלבים משחקים ;אליהו בא לעיר – כלבים בוכים. When the Jews were leaving, both the מלאך המות and אליהו came. The מלאך המות came to kill the Egyptians and אליהו came to redeem the Jews. Therefore, the dogs, confused and not knowing what to do, remained silent.
