The Governor of a southern state was at a party with his wife, when a former classmate of hers came over to say hello. She caught up with him about old times. Afterwards, the Governor asked her what her former classmate does. “He’s in the trash business,” she replied, adding that she had actually dated him while they were in school. “You see,” her husband said, “if I didn’t come along, you might have been married to a garbage man.” “No,” she replied, “if I had married him, he would be Governor now.”
