An עשיר turned down all requests for צדקה. But he nevertheless would go door-to-door soliciting money from others on behalf of the poor. When רבי ברוך מרדכי of שדליץ heard this, he said that people compare an עשיר קמצן to a חזיר. Why? Because like a pig, he’s מפריס פרסה, going on his feet to collect for the poor but not being מעלה גרה – he doesn’t come up with even an אגורה out of his own pocket.
