When ר׳ שמואל הכהן טפר, served as the רב in a small German town, there was one man who served as the town’s חזן, שוחט, מוהל and מלמד.  His תורה was limited but his חוצפה was limitless.  Once, when he was particularly insolent, רב שמואל told him: “There are three kinds of עזי פנים.  There is the old goat who jumps to the head of the flock.  There is the hen whose crowing wakes people in the morning.  And there is the dog that sticks out his tongue at strangers and runs ahead of his master.  The עזות פנים of the old goat is understandable, since he has a full beard.  Similarly, the hen is waking people for שחרית and לימוד תורה.  But the dog, who has no זיקנה and no תורה, what justification can he have for his חוצפה?”
