Ezra had been sending money to an אלמנה in Israel for several years.  When he finally went to Israel himself, he decided to look her up.  Ezra’s knock on her door was answered by a man.  When Ezra asked for the woman, the man said “Can I help you? I’m her husband.”  “Her husband?” Ezra screamed.  “I thought she was an אלמנה.”  “What’s bothering you,” the man replied, “that I’m alive?”
