There was a simple man in Slonim, who was by no means a תלמיד חכם, but had great charisma. When ר׳ אייזיק שפירה מסלונים, a מתנגד who was known as ר׳ אייזל חריף, saw that the man was being treated as a great צדיק, with numerous חסידים, the רב asked him how is it that a regular Jew is transformed overnight into קדשי קדשים to the extent that people say “צדיק גוזר והקב״ה מקים”?   The “צדיק” answered: “Its like the separation of תרומה.  Wheat which is חולין immediately becomes קדוש upon its הפרשה לתרומה.  So too, when people designated me to be תרומה קודש לה׳, I hold that I immediately became קדוש.”  Rolling his eyes, ר׳ אייזל responded: “That’s an interesting סברא, but you forgot: חרש שוטה וקטן שתרמו אין תרומתן תרומה.”
