An author of a ספר went from house to house trying to find buyers. After being repeatedly turned down, he went to a תלמיד חכם and asked him to review the ספר. After doing so, the תלמיד חכם told him: “I don’t have money to buy it, but I suggest that you go to Alter who lives down the block and he will surely but a copy.” The author responded: “But Alter is an עם הארץ and a boor, why would he want to buy my book?” The חכם answered: “He may be an עם הארץ and a boor, but he deals in stolen material and he’ll find a lot of that in your ספר.”
