Two businessmen were fierce competitors. They tried to steal sales from one another and they bad mouthed one another. On ערב יום כיפור, after the על חטא of מנחה, one approached the other in the בית כנסת and said: “Why fight? This is a day of סליחה ומחילה.” His competitor responded: “I agree. I pray that whatever you wish for me, the רבונו של עולם should give you double.” The first one screamed: “רשע! Even on ערב יום כיפור and even in the בית כנסת!”
