In the מחזור for the ימים נוראים, above the words ותשובה ותפילה וצדקה, the ונתנה תוקף states: צום, קול, ממון. If you look at the גימטריה of each of these words, צום is 136, קול is 136 and ממון is 136. Thus, it seems that it all comes down to money.
