A רב was very troubled that week after week, when the time came for קריאת התורה, a group of men would walk out of the בית כנסת to carry on a conversation in the hallway. His efforts to persuade them to stop were to no avail. He concluded that these were אויבי ה׳ and said that their leaving with פתיחת הארון is consistent with that which we say: ויפוצו אויביך וינוסו משנאיך מפניך.
