A חסיד came to רבי אלימלך of ליזנסק, complaining about his memory. The רבי told him to do תשובה and then he won’t suffer from שיכחה, memory loss. “What’s the connection between תשובה and שיכחה?” the חסיד asked. רבי אלימלך explained: “חכמינו אמרו במסכת יומא: גדולה תשובה שמגעת עד כסא הכבוד.” And it is expressly said אין שיכחה לפני כסא כבודך.”
