In פרשת ראה, the תורה says די מחסורו אשר יחסר לו.  Today’s דף explains: די מחסורו אשר יחסר לו זו אשה.  The ספר ״לחמי תודה״ asks how is it possible to give a person all that he lacks?  After all, as stated in קהלת רבה א, יג, until a person dies חצי תאותו בידו.  If he has a million dollars, he wants two.  Therefore, חז״ל were דורש that די מחסורו אשר יחסר לו זו אשה, because one wife is enough.  People don’t have the תאוה for another one because the suffering experienced from one is more than enough.  That explains why it is written די מחסורו אשר יחסר לו.
