A תלמיד חכם complained to רבי יחזקאל לנדא, the נודע ביהודה, that many people come to his door and disturb his learning. The נודע ביהודה suggested: “If a wealthy man comes to your door, ask him for a גמילות חסד and you won’t see him again. If a poor man comes, loan him money and you’ll never see him again.”
