The מלבי״ם was once asked for his הסכמה on a ספר. The מלבי״ם reviewed the ספר, which was a פירוש on the קינות of תשעה באב. Concluding that it wasn’t worthy of his הסכמה, the מלבי״ם said “I can’t give you a הסכמה on your פירוש of the קינות, but I can give you a קינה on your פירוש.”
