The תורה states: העשיר לא ירבה והדל לא ימעיט. Why was it necessary to state this? After all, as today’s דף states, עשירים הם קמצנים. Apparently, it’s because עשירים are מרבים the ”No.” No, this is not a good time. No, I don’t have the funds. No, I have to give to others. Therefore, the תורה instructs the wealthy not to be מרבה the No, so that the poor לא ימעיט.
