During the Vietnam War, a sergeant at a military base in Texas received a call from a local woman, who said “We would love it if you could send five of your soldiers to our home for Thanksgiving dinner.” “That’s very kind of you,” he replied. “We will be happy to do it.” “Great,” she said, “but make sure they aren’t Jews.” “Will do,” he said. As the woman was setting the Thanksgiving table, the doorbell rang. She opened the door and to her horror, saw five black soldiers standing in front of her. “Oh my!” she exclaimed, “There’s been a terrible mistake.” “No, ma’am,” said one of the soldiers. “Sergeant Goldfarb never makes mistakes.”
