When רב יהונתן איבשיץ was a small child in חדר, his רבי asked him whether he knows the name of the King of סדום. “Of course,” he answered. “The חומש says ברע מלך סדום.” The רבי responded: “But in פיטום הקטורת it expressly says: מלך סדומית רבע הקב and if so, his name was רבע and not ברע.” Without hesitation and with a smile on his face, the young יהונתן said: “His parents named him ברע, but with הפיחת סדום ועמורה, the letters in the name of its king also became jumbled and ברע changed to רבע.”
