A חזן with a good voice and a matching ego demanded a raise to match the compensation the Rabbi was getting. The President of the shul, knowing his גמרא, said: מעשיהן כמעשה זמרי, ומבקשין שכר כפינחס, responded to the חזן that he does מעשה זמרי – מעשה זמר – ומבקש שכר כפינחס.
