A man went to his רב and demanded a גט. “My wife is a סוטה,” he complained. “I was going on a two week business trip to Europe and I warned her not to seclude herself with other men and particularly one man whom I was suspicious of. I went on the trip but advanced my return flight because I finished my business early. I sent my wife a telegram and told her exactly when I would be back. But when I got home, I saw the two of them secluded. Since there are no bitter waters to test her, I want a גט.” The רב responded that he would talk to his wife because there are always two sides to the story. “There can’t be two sides to this story,” said the husband, “I saw the two of them with my own eyes.” “There are always two sides to the story,” the רב insisted. “Wait here, I’m going to talk with your wife.” When the רב returned, he said: “I was right. There are two sides to the story. She never got the telegram.”
