When רבי שלום הלוי, the מגיד, was asked why the גמרא saysבשכר נשים צדקניות, שהיו באותו דור, נגאלו ישראל ממצרים, he answered that the reason that בני ישראל, who were supposed to be enslaved in מצרים for 400 years, were liberated after 210 years, was because the נשים צדקניות asked הקדוש ברוך הוא to have mercy and set free their husbands. When השם responded: עדיין לא הגיעה השעה ,שנאמר לאברהם בברית הבתרים, ועבדים ועינו אותם ארבע מאות שנה, the women replied “Give us our husbands and we’ll make them work twice as hard.” הקדוש ברוך הוא listened to their plea and that’s why it was in their זכות that the בני ישראל were liberated early.
