The קהילה in Brisk decided to fire their long serving שמש.  But no one had the courage to be the one to tell him.  So they decided to have רבי יוסי בר, the אב בית דין, carry out the unpleasant task.  However, the רב refused.  “In the פרשת העקידה,” he explained, “it states that it was the רבונו של עולם himself who commanded אברהם אבינו to sacrifice his son, את בנך את יחידך.  But when אברהם was told לא לנגוע בנער, it was by a מלאך.  As the פסוק says: ויקרא מלאך ה׳ אל אברהם.  This presents the question: Why didn’t ה׳ also send a מלאך to tell אברהם to take יצחק to the עקידה?  The answer is that each of the מלאכים would have said רבונו של עולם, רצונך לצוות לשחוט אדם מישראל, לך ואמור לו בעצמך.”
