Why do we praise אברהם אבינו for his מידת הכנסת אורחים?  After all, the תורה notes that לוט also greeted the Angels ויעש להם משתה.  The אוהב ישראל answered: by לוט it is written ויבואו שני המלאכים. To greet מלאכים isn’t something to boast about.  But by אברהם, the תורה states והנה שלושה אנשים. They looked like ordinary people, with dust on their feet, and to treat ordinary people with such כבוד is truly מידת הכנסת אורחים.
