עבודה זרה לה

A מגיד once approached a wealthy man for צדקה but was turned down.  The מגיד told him that it’s a shame that he wasn’t around בימי התנאים.  “Had you been around then,” he said, “חלב של עכו׳ם would have been permitted on account of you.”  Puzzled, the עשיר asked him to explain.  The מגיד told him:  “Why was the חלב של עכו׳ם prohibited?  It was a גזירה because of the possibility that the עכו׳ם mixed in milk from a בהמה טמאה.  But you are living proof that a בהמה טמאה can’t be milked at all.”
