A Reform rabbi who was on his deathbed asked that the רב come to see him because he wants to do תשובה. Surprised, one of his followers said: “Are you now rejecting everything you believed in?” The rabbi answered: “No. To the contrary, this shows that there is no validity to the statement that רשעים אפילו על פתחה של גהינום אינם חוזרים בתשובה.”
