While discussing his wife, R’ נפתלי מרופשיץ said: הקב״ה took everything from איוב, his sons, his daughters, his wealth. Why didn’t He also take his wife? The answer is because הקב״ה knew that in the future He would return to איוב twice as much as He took. And to give him two wives would have been just too much suffering.
