In פרשת וירא, with reference to אברהם, the Torah says לושי ועשי עוגות.  However, with reference to לוט, it says ומצות אפה.  Why the difference?  The גמרא states that the גאולה will occur in the month of ניסן.  Moreover, הקדוש ברוך הוא intended that the משכן be erected in the month that אברהם אבינו was informed of the birth of יצחק, which was the source of all future ישועות וגאולות since the building of the משכן was also preparation for the building of the מקווה which in the future will also be in ניסן.  But the גמרא in ראש השנה יא states that at the time that the news was delivered in תשרי and the רבונו של עולם changed the מזלות so that the month was converted to ניסן so that the news of the birth of יצחק, which is the שורש of the גאולה, be in the month of ניסן.  Suddenly, פסח was not in its proper time and that meant that מצות couldn’t be baked with all the הידורים and חומרות because flour had to be obtained from the market.  And for אברהם, if it wasn’t שמורה מצה, it wasn’t worthy to be called מצה. Therefore, it was referred to simply as עוגות.  But with reference to לוט, who wasn’t מדקדק in מצות, these were deemed מצות.
