A רב came to the home of a wealthy Jew to collect צדקה. One of the children asked if the רב could have a seat and wait a short while because his father had a late night and just got up. After 15 minutes the עשיר came out and apologized for keeping the רב waiting. The רב graciously accepted the apology and said: “You know, when a person arises from his sleep, he says המעביר שינה מעיני, but we don’t say אמן after this ברכה because it’s not complete without הגומל חסדים טובים.”
