Shortly before פסח, a poor man who had been wealthy but lost his fortune and went bankrupt, described his situation as that of all the four sons. “I’m a חכם because I’m עני ואביון and it is written לא לחכמים לחם. And I’m a רשע because I borrowed money which I haven’t returned. I’m a תם because a שור that has gored twice is called a תם and I borrowed money twice and haven’t repaid the lenders. And now, I’m not trustworthy so there’s no one I can ask for a loan, so I’m also a שאינו יודע לשאול.”
