פסחים-צח

Rav אייזל חריף  went on ערב פסח to the home of a wealthy miser to request מעות חיטים.  The miser rejected the request and at that very time was checking his pockets for any crumbs of חמץ.  Seeing this, רבי אייזל told him that his pockets don’t need בדיקה.  Surprised, the miser asked why.  “Because you’ve clearly demonstrated that you’re only a Jew up to but not including your pockets,” the רבי answered.
