On שבעי של פסח a מגיד got up on the בימה to speak to the קהל so that they would give him צדקה at the end of the חג. “It’s not coincidental that I chose to speak to you today,” he said. “This is the day of קריעת ים סוף, when our ancestors had a miraculous journey. And we find in מסכת פסחים the lesson which each of you should take to heart: קשין מזונותיו של אדם כקריעת ים סוף.”
