The מדרש tells us that משה רבינו, when he heard השם say קדושים תהיו, said הסר ממנו מכת המוות. One explanation of his request that death be removed from us is that there are those who come to theבית כנסת just to say קדיש or יזכור and that’s the extent of their קדושה. It was in reference to this thatמשה רבינו said: We don’t need these kind of קדושים whose holiness is limited to מכת המוות.
