A חסיד boasting to a מתנגד of the miracles his רבי performs said that a barren woman came to him for a ברכה and the רבי took a silver platter and placed it on her head and nine months later the woman bore a child. The חסיד said that they asked the רבי what was the basis for this remedy and the רבי explained that a platter is a קערה which contains the letters of עקרה. The מתנגד responded: “That’s very nice, but why couldn’t he do it with a porcelain קערה? Why did he use silver?” The חסיד didn’t know what to say. The מתנגד answered his own question: “כסף מטהר ממזרים.”
