Two בחורי ישיבה were living in a דירה near the מיר. One day, one of them brought home a rooster for כפרות. His roommate objected: “That’s not a rooster. It’s a hen!” They argued for a while, until they agreed to have the bird spend the night with them so that they could hear if it crows or not and thus determine if it’s a rooster or a hen. They went to sleep and in the early morning were woken by the crowing of the bird. “Did you hear that?” asked the first boy. “I sure did,” responded the second. “If I hadn’t heard it with my own ears, I wouldn’t have believed that a hen can crow.”
