When רבי אייזל חריף was a guest at a ברית מילה, he poured two glasses of whiskey and invited another guest to join him for a drink. Seeing and hearing this, a שוחט whose meat רבי אייזל would not eat, approached the רב and said: “יסלח לי רבני, אך הלא אמרו חכמים: אין אורח מזמין אורח?” “The word אין,” the רבי said, “has two meanings. It can be either ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ But concerning you it has only one meaning: yes. Otherwise, your career as a שוחט would be over. As מסכת שבת says: אין שוטה נפגע. Therefore, according to your שיטה, the word אין can only be read as yes.”
