When ר׳ יונתן אייבישיץ was a young boy, his רבי asked him what was the name of the מלך סדום. He answered ברע. The רבי then asked why do we say מלח סדומית רבע, rather than ברע. Immediately, the young יונתן answered: “בתחילה נקרא ברע, אך היות שסדום התהפכה, ברע נעשה רבע.”
