When ר׳ עקיבא איגר was coming home from shul one שבת, he came across two men, one smoking a cigarette and the second asking him for one as well. Quoting from today’s דף, the רב said to the second man: “The גמרא teaches עשה שבתך חול ואל תצטרך לבריות. Since you’re מקיים the first part, making your שבת חול, why aren’t you מקיים the second part, ואל תצטרך לבריות?
