When ר׳ שמואל פריינד, a תלמיד of the נודע ביהודה, had a dispute with the leaders of his קהל and refused to budge from his opinion, one of the ראשי קהל said to him: “Our position is stronger than yours, because we are ten and you’re only one and ten heads prevail over one.”  He responded: “If you believe that our issue should be decided based solely on numbers, why not say twenty feet instead of ten heads.”
