Why is it that at סעודה שלישית we don’t eat a big meal as we do for the other two שבת סעודת? An explanation offered by ר׳ חנוך העניך מאלכסנדר is that יעקב אבינו had twelve sons with hearty appetites which were expensive to satisfy, so he had little more than a piece of bread to give them. And since סעודה שלישית is כנגד יעקב אבינו, we eat as he did.
