For years, the telephone operator in a small town would receive a phone call at 11:30 AM from a man asking her for the exact time.  Curious, she one day asked him why he called so often.  “I run the local sawmill,” he explained, “and I blow the whistle every day exactly at noon.  So I call you to confirm the time.”  “That’s funny,” the operator replied, “All these years, we’ve been setting our clock by your whistle.”
