In the 19th and early 20th centuries, there were many Jews who, to earn a פרנסה, were מחלל שבת.  One observed remarked:  On ערב שבת, when the wife lights the candles and the husband is still at his store, וינוחו בה is said.   In the morning, when he goes to shul and his wife is minding the store, וינוחו בו is said.  And at מנחה, when the store is closed and they are both at rest, וינוחו בם is said.
