A מתנגד once said to רבי ישראל פרידמן of Ruzhin: “The difference between מתנגדים and חסידים is that מתנגדים learn משניות immediately after the תפילה, while חסידים drink whiskey immediately after the תפילה.” The רבי replied: “I agree. The תפילה of the מתנגדים is dead and learning משניות is a תיקון יפה למת. But the תפילה of חסידים is full of life and a drink is good for the living.”
