When ר׳ עקיבא אייגער saw a group of men smoking on שבת, he asked them why they were doing the עבירה.  One of them responded that they were doing it for a רפואה.  The רב answered: “The רבונו של עולם sends the רפואה before the מכה.  You already have the רפואה, I can assure you that it will be followed by the מכה.”
